The Baldwin Junior Fire Department was officially formed on April 2, 1985 by a unanimous vote of the Board of Fire Commissioners.
The objectives of the Juniors are:
Currently, the advisors are Ex-Captain Mark Logan and Ex- Captain Thomas Yanantuono.
Since formation, the Junior Fire Department has participated in many competitive drills with other Junior Fire Departments. Many times, Baldwin Juniors won First Place in total points in these competitions. In 1995, the Juniors won “Best Appearing Company” in the Baldwin Fire Department annual inspection, sharing this award with to other companies. Also in 1995, the Juniors again placed first in the Second Battalion Invitational parade in Point Lookout.
Members of the Juniors train with all companies in the Department. They are instructed with “hands on” training. Some of the topics that our members train on are: ground ladders, pump operation, hose line operations, search & rescue, forcible entry, rope rescue and repelling. All Junior firefighters are required to be CPR qualified, and are all currently certified.
