Hurricane Sandy, the eighteenth named storm and twelfth hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic Hurricane Season, touched down in our area between October 28th and October 30th. Among the many Caribbean nations, 24 states in the US, from Florida to Maine and as far west as Michigan & Wisconsin were affected, with particular damage to New Jersey and New York. The highest winds from this storm were measured at 110 mph. In total, 285 fatalities were reported in the US.
