Working House Fire: McKinley Street
The Baldwin Fire Department responded to a reported house fire with victims trapped early this morning on McKinley Street. The alarm was received at 1:48 AM, with Engines 201 and 202 already responding from a previous automatic alarm were both on scene with 3 minutes of the alarm.
Chief of Department Michael Parise (205) was the first arriving Baldwin unit and immediately transmitted a Signal 10 (Working Fire), reporting three residents trapped inside the home.
Nassau County Police Department officers assisted in bringing the first victim safely out of the residence. Chief Parise then directed Engine 202 to deploy a portable ladder, allowing firefighters to safely rescue the remaining two residents.
Baldwin firefighters made an aggressive interior attack, deploying three handlines to bring the fire under control. All fireground operations were completed by 3:30 AM.
One resident was transported to an area hospital, while the other two were evaluated at the scene. One Baldwin firefighter was also treated at the scene but did not require transport.
Mutual aid assistance was provided on scene by the Rockville Centre, Oceanside and Freeport Fire Departments. The South Hempstead, Long Beach, Island Park and Hempstead Fire Departments provided additional units to stand by and cover any additional alarms within the Town.
All operations were conducted under the command of Chief of Department Michael Parise.
The Baldwin Fire Department would like to thank all mutual aid departments and the Nassau County Police Department for their assistance and coordinated efforts during this incident. The Red Cross was working with Residents and the cause of the Fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals office.
