MVA at Atlantic Avenue and Laurel Avenue
At approximately 2:59 AM earlier this morning, The Baldwin Fire Department was dispatched for a report of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Atlantic Avenue and Laurel Avenue, with additional information reporting a vehicle into a tree.
The response was under the direction of 1st Deputy Chief Gary Benedict (2051). The original assignment included Hose Company 1 (201), Hose Company 2 (202), and Ambulance 2010.
2051 arrived first and, due to the possibility that the occupants could require extrication, requested that the two Truck Companies be assigned to the incident.
Upon arrival, firefighters determined that the driver had managed to extricate himself from the vehicle prior to the arrival of the fire department.
Units 201 and 202 assisted the Nassau County Police Department at the scene. The patient was transported by NCPD Ambulance to South Nassau Communities Hospital for evaluation.
Once the scene was secured, the incident was turned over to the Nassau County Police Department.
All Baldwin Fire Department units were back in service by 3:22 PM.
We thank our members for their quick response and continued commitment to protecting our community.
